A Race for Life

In her mid-forties, Ruth Heidrich was diagnosed with breast cancer. After undergoing treatment, she realized she had to challenge herself to keep well. She deicded to run the punishing Ironman Triathlon a test of endurance involving a 2.4 mile swin, 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile marathon run. To do this and reamin cancer-free, she stopped eating animal products, adopting a plant-based diet and a life-affirming attitude that was determined - in more ways than one- to be in it for the long run., Twenty years later, Heidrich is still running, still cancer-free, and still positive about life.
